Traffic study of connecting the area of the shopping centre Spar Šiška

A capacity analysis was made whether the proposed geometry of connections of the final variant solution will meet the capacity parameters in 2019, when the opening of the SES shopping centre is planned, and at the end of the planning period of 20 years, in 2039.

The capacity analysis of the processing area was made using the PTV Vissim microscopic simulation program, which, among other things, enables the simulation of traffic flow with respect to the predicted traffic loads. The program created the geometry and visualization of the planned connection of the SES shopping centre to the public road network (the geometric elements of the connections were taken after the conceptual design). With the help of micro-traffic simulation, future traffic flows within the processing zone by individual lanes was predicted, as well as the mutual interaction of nearby crossroads and connections. As part of the capacity analysis, three relevant time sections were analysed: the starting point condition of the traffic network during the present day afternoon peak hours and during the anticipated shopping peak hour (overview of today’s situation), the state of the traffic network during the peak shopping hour in year 2019 (the commencement of the operation of the shopping centre) and the state of the transport network during the peak hour in 2039 (at the end of the planning period of 20 years).
